in

which are the Buenos Aires neighborhoods with more and fewer cases

Of the total of 2,142 cases of coronavirus detected nationwide, the City of Buenos Aires accounts for almost 30% of cases

This Saturday the number of coronavirus infections in Argentina showed a rebound. In the last 24 hours, 6 new deaths and 167 new cases were known, so there are already 2,142 in the country.

So far, 578 cases have been detected in the City of Buenos Aires, which represents 27% of the total and makes it the most compromised district. As only 6.5% of the national population lives there, a hypothesis to explain this could be the high population density it has. As many people live in a small space – against the social isolation recommended by professionals – the virus can be transmitted more easily.

When analyzing by neighborhood, the detail is as follows:

  • Palermo: 53 cases.
  • Recoleta: 44.
  • San Cristóbal and Balvanera: 56 cases between the two.
  • Comuna 13 (Núñez, Belgrano and Colegiales): 43 patients.

In the South of the City it is where less detected cases appear:

  • Commune 4 (La Boca, Barracas, Parque Patricios and Nueva Pompeya): 14.
  • Commune 9 (Liniers, Mataderos and Parque Avellaneda): 11.
  • Commune 8 (Villa Soldati, Villa Lugano and Villa Riachuelo): 7.

Discharged

A total of 468 people affected by the coronavirus were discharged from the country after recovering from the disease., as reported by the Ministry of Health of the Nation.

In this way, 22 percent of the 2,142 cases registered until this Saturday night went home, while there are 90 who died.

Regarding the confirmed, 816 (38%) are imported, 712 (33%) are close contacts of confirmed cases, 304 (14%) are cases of community circulation and the rest are under epidemiological investigation.

Likewise, of the 2,142 patients, 46.7% are women and 53.3% are men, while it was reported that this Saturday 1,731 new samples were performed and since the start of the outbreak 19,758 diagnostic tests were carried out for this disease, which is equivalent to 435.4 samples per million inhabitants.

The number of cases discarded until Saturday is 15,480 (by laboratory and by clinical / epidemiological criteria).

The Ministry of Health of the Nation remarked that the main affected age groups of the registered cases correspond to people between 20 and 59 years old, with an average age of 45 years.
