Volkswagen returns to produce boxes next Wednesday

The Córdoba Argentina Industrial Center of Volkswagen will resume production next Wednesday 29 in two shifts; It will be the first industrial plant of the German group in the region to come out of the quarantine forced by the coronavirus.

This was determined by the province’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mining, based on the new scheme by which the Emergency Operations Center (COE) analyzes the security protocols proposed by each company to reduce the possibility of Covid virus infections. -19.

As reported this afternoon the company in a statement, the return to production will be gradually, for which a progressive schedule of production shifts was set.

In the first week, 3,573 transmission boxes and components will be produced; During the second week 7,082 would be produced, in the third week 7,790 and in the fourth week a production of 8,040 boxes and components will be achieved.

This progressivity in production levels would allow the personnel to be incorporated in stages, with which at the end it would reach a quantity of around 450 workers, according to sources that know the company closely.

In this way, Volkswagen clarified, it would be possible to comply with the committed production orders and international contracts, given that one hundred percent of production is for export.

Likewise, the plant will continue to be prepared for the new project, the MQ-281 box, whose production would start in May. For this transmission, the group allocated an investment of 150 million dollars and it will be one hundred percent for export to Europe.

Health and safety protocols

For the release of the quarantine, the Córdoba Industrial Center prepared together with Smata a protocol with health and safety regulations.

“The protection and health of our collaborators are our priority, which is why we have prepared intensively for the start of production in recent weeks, establishing a health and safety protocol in line with the recommendations of the national and provincial government, and endorsed by workers’ representatives, ”said Thomas Owsianski, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group Argentina.

Some of the measures to be implemented are the following:

  • It will take extreme hygiene measures between each shift.
  • It will implement sanitizer dispensers at various points in the plants.
  • It will take the temperature periodically to the employees.
  • The use of masks will be mandatory.
  • You must respect a distance of 1.5 meters between workers, established with marks at all access points, among others.
  • There will be a constant dialogue with the national and provincial governments, workers’ representatives and the entire value chain, to take and adapt the necessary measures based on the advance of the coronavirus in Argentina.

Health protocols in the “checklist” of industries

The Córdoba Group Argentina Industrial Center Córdoba is one of the eight production plants of the German group in the world that produces transmissions and exports all of its production mainly to Brazil, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, China, India, South Africa, United States and Mexico.
