Volkswagen proposed to Kulfas to open its plant in Córdoba next week

Volkswagen Argentina proposed to the Minister of Productive Development of the Nation, Matías Kulfas, to open its two plants in Argentina, the box factory in Córdoba, and the vehicle factory in Pacheco, Buenos Aires province, next week.

Like all metalworking companies in the country, these plants have been closed since compulsory and preventive social isolation began, ordered by the national government to stop the advance of the Covid-19 virus.

The idea is to start with the production of the MQ250 boxes, almost everything for export, starting next Monday the 27th and with 40 percent of its workforce, this is with 450 workers.

The German capital company and the Smata technicians designed a health and safety protocol to minimize the chances of coronavirus transmission among its workers.

According to Antonio Quintana, general secretary of the Córdoba regional Smata, workers and managers are awaiting a decision by the national government.

In this regard, he clarified that the activity in the Cordovan plant will begin to reactivate “little by little.” This implies that the new project of the MQ281 box could be delayed.
