The opening of each activity should be requested individually by each province and they would have to carry out a more rigid permanent control
The Government defines a list of activities that may be reactivated in the quarantine that President Alberto Fernández extended, in principle, until April 26. Although it will be available to each province to open, there are some items that can be implemented throughout the country such as online sales and medical and dental consultations.
They will not be the only exceptions. The head of the Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero, will hold the last consultations with the Health experts and this Friday he plans to announce what activities may be carried out from next Monday.
“Starting Monday, activities will be resumed in many provinces of Argentina,” Cafiero had said this Thursday night in dialogue with Public TV.
The coordinating minister clarified that it will be in “localities, areas, jurisdictions that do not have cases or that have had an imported case, where there is no viral circulation, where this ratio of duplication of cases is much further from the fourteen days, average that it has the country”.
Indeed, although in the metropolitan region of Greater Buenos Aires and in the most affected provinces the idea is to maintain the restrictions, the Government admitted that there will be general exceptions. The last word to adhere will be borne by the provinces.
Cafiero ruled out that the relaxation of the quarantine implies a massive opening. “It is going to continue advancing with exceptions or with resuming different activities, but always under protocols and always bearing in mind that social distancing,” he clarified.
The list includes scheduled medical and dental consultations -emergencies were already enabled-, and the opening of opticians, who must work with limited shifts and places.
Regarding commerce, online and telephone sales will be extended, with delivery, to other items, such as paint shops, electronic houses, toy stores, clothing, leather goods and footwear. The opening of each activity should be requested individually by each province, since they will be the ones who must control compliance with sanitary measures and operating protocols.
The private construction works are still under analysis, which after the meeting that the President held in Quinta de Olivos with the UOCRA union and the leadership of the Argentine Chamber of Construction could operate again in the short term, although not since Monday. “It will be analyzed during the week,” warned official sources.
It will be after the meeting in Casa Rosada de Cafiero with the Buenosairean governor, Axel Kicillof, who far from asking for a massive opening of activities will ask that each exception that is offered be “transitory” and with “permanent evaluation”. And that the controls on public transport and accesses are tightened.
It will also suggest restrictions for older adults, along the same lines as the movement permit imposed by the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.
