They arrested three allegedly involved in the massacre in the Irapuato annex


The Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato released the arrest of three people allegedly involved in the massacre that took place in an annex of the municipality of Irapuato, Guanajuato, on July 1.

According to the statement, the arrest was accomplished thanks to the investigations derived from the attack and the joint operation that was carried out with the State Secretariat for Public Security. The detainees are people designated as the “top three implicated in such heinous crime against those who requested the corresponding judicial orders. ”

These people were detained by agents of the Special Reaction and Intervention Group (GERI) of the Criminal Investigation Agency, the State Attorney General’s Office and the Guanajuato Tactical Group of the State Public Security Forces.

Last July 1 an armed command broke into an Irapuato rehabilitation center and opened fire on a group of men who were inside the place. So far they have been accounted for 27 fatal victims of the massacre.

The center they entered by force is called “Recovering my life” and it is located in the Arandas neighborhood of said municipality. But, it was revealed that this place operated clandestinely.

The rehabilitation centers in Guanajuato have been the target of various drug trafficking attacksBecause some young people who are seeking to end their relationship with a cartel are being held there, or it is even a way of intimidating them into being part of it.

Other times, these places have been found to be used as facades to hide safe houses that they belong to criminal groups.

The state prosecutor, Carlos Zamarrimpa, reported that support has been provided to the families of the victims.

Regarding the three other similar attacks occurred in other centers of this type of Irapuato, in December last year, February and June 2020, indicated that 26 people have been arrested as alleged perpetrators, who are accused of various crimes, including that of intentional homicide.

According to the investigation, the attack would have been the product of the dispute that exists between the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) and the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL), who have been fighting for a long time for the control of drug trafficking and the theft of fuel in the entity.

At the state level 1,903 people have been recorded dead between January and May. He stressed that from 2019 to date, 662 members of the CJNG have been detained, headed by the boss Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho”.

Attackers were seized 480 firearms (77 heavy gauge including Barret and anti-aircraft type), 161 vehicles, 100 motorcycles, 7,000 cartridges and 21 grenades

The Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, led by José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias “El Marro”, has arrested 662 people and seized 810 weapons, 292 of them for the exclusive use of the Army, 351 automobiles and 200 motorcycles.

Despite the above, the state of Guanajuato, located in central Mexico and whose population is around 6 million inhabitants, since 2018 is the entity that concentrates the highest number of homicides, in the country, accumulating 13% of the 14,631 people who have been killed in the first five months of 2020.
