The City makes its quarantine more flexible with the reopening of local businesses


This Tuesday the City of Buenos Aires begins its relaxation of the quarantine, with the reopening of certain local businesses. It will be the first step in giving air to local merchants but, at the same time, continuing with the measures in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, from Saturday the moving services will start again and boys and girls up to 15 years old will be able to take a short walk with their parents.

According to the official Buenos Aires schedule, from May 12 the florists, toy stores, perfume shops, decoration houses, sales of electrical materials, household appliances, musical instruments and bicycle shops will operate.

On Thursday, jewelers, watches, jewelery, furniture stores, car and motorcycle dealers, and other retail stores will open their doors, with the exception of clothing stores. Thus, the City Government allowed much of the commercial activity to be enabled, but with a new schedule that covers from 11 to 21, only from Monday to Friday.

The attention to the business public will be according to the document number, odd or even, and depending on the day, in order to avoid crowds. Anyway, this Monday, according to official data, the number of people circulating in the City increased.

More than 289 thousand vehicles passed through the entrances to the City, which it means a 29% increase compared to last Monday.

Although a large part of the items were included in this new stage, for the moment clothing and footwear businesses were left out, which concentrate a significant number of shops in the City.

From Saturday in the City of Buenos Aires the moving services, which may be carried out within the limits of the district and exclusively on weekends.

Regarding recreational outings for children under 15, announced by the head of Buenos Aires Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, they also come into force on May 16. The boys will be allowed to go out with a major up to 500 meters from their houses and based on the completion of the adult document, being able to circulate on Saturday with an even ID and, on Sunday, with an odd one. The departure will be one hour.

In this instance, at least until next May 24, shopping malls, restaurants, bowling alleys, gyms and hairdressers will not reopen.

Church opening

The national government authorized on Monday the opening of “all the churches in the country” for “spiritual assistance to the faithful and individual prayers”, although religious ceremonies will continue to be prohibited.

The decision was announced after the Chief of Cabinet Santiago Cafiero and the Minister of Foreign Relations Felipe Solá met at Casa Rosada with the head of the Argentine Episcopal Conference (CEA) Oscar Ojea, Cardinal Mario Poli and Monsignor Carlos Malfa .

Churches can open their doors for spiritual assistance to the faithful and individual prayers, and these would be the first practices of faith that could be allowed in the churches and temples of our country, “said a statement from the Cabinet chief.
