Russia breaks its daily record with more than 11,200 positives and exceeds 177,000 infected

The pandemic of the new coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan has registered in Russia in the last 24 hours more than 11,200 cases, breaking the daily record of infections and raising the balance to more than 177,000 infected people and 1,625 fatalities.

“In the last 24 hours in Russia, 11,231 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in 84 regions, including 5,471 cases without clinical symptoms,” the Russian center responsible for fighting the virus has reported, in a statement collected by the Sputnik news agency.

The new cases represent an increase of 6.8 percent with respect to the internal day. In Moscow, 6,703 new cases have been detected in one day, bringing the total number of infected people in the capital to 92,676, 52.3 percent of all infections in the entire country.

As for the fatalities, 88 COVID-19 patients have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,625 deaths. The center has indicated that 23,803 people have recovered from the disease caused by the coronavirus, including 2,476 who were discharged in the last 24 hours.

As of Thursday, Russia has carried out more than 4.8 million coronavirus detection tests, as reported by the National Office for Consumer Protection (Rospotrebnadzor). “More than 4.8 million coronavirus tests have been carried out in Russia. Some 231,000 people are still under medical observation,” the agency explained.
