Quarantined exporters can return to work

Industries with an export record and pending delivery operations may return to work, once this is approved by the Government of Córdoba.

This was established by resolution 179/20 of the Ministry of Productive Development of the Nation, published yesterday in the Official bulletin, which allows provincial governments to exempt certain industries from the quarantine arranged to stop the coronavirus.

The authorization is made by the Ministry of Industry of the Province and must be communicated within 48 hours to that national portfolio, as part of the control mechanism.

This responds to a claim that the Industrial Union of Córdoba (UIC) and the Córdoba Chamber of Foreign Trade (Cacec) had been supporting.

“It is essential because it means fresh dollars entering the country,” warned UIC President Marcelo Uribarren yesterday.

The provincial ministry communicated yesterday to the private sector the documentation to be submitted. This is derived to the Province’s Emergency Operations Center (COE), in charge of evaluating the sanitary protocols that the company will implement with its workers to reduce the possibilities of contagion of the Covid-19 virus. Once approved, the company begins work.

This rule is key for the reactivation, among other companies, of the Córdoba Argentina Industrial Center of Volkswagen Argentina, which manufactures gearboxes for the exterior and which presented a proposal to re-produce from next week.

This procedure is also applied to remove from the quarantine industries and services linked to the activities of the internal market that were already excepted.

These are factories of items such as hardware; bottle supply; basic services such as water, electricity, gas and communications; oil, gas and fuels; nuclear power plants; biofuel production and distribution; construction materials; tanneries, sawmills, lumber, mattresses and road and agricultural machinery, and manufacturers of authorized auto, motorcycle and bicycle parts.

To this are added producers of computer inputs; optics; industries that carry out continuous processes (as long as they have been authorized), and factories of stoves, heaters and heating devices for domestic use.
