Quarantine I More than twenty thousand volunteers have already signed up to assist older adults in the City of Buenos Aires

In the framework of the coronavirus pandemic, the Argentines again demonstrated their solidarity. While the UBA recruited more than 7000 volunteers in 48 hours to assist the province of Buenos Aires, the Buenos Aires Government announced that they are already 21,498 people those who signed up for assist older adults.

The Deputy Chief of Government of the City, Diego Santilli, was invited this Saturday to Mirtha’s Night (The Thirteen) and was excited by the more than 20,000 volunteers that were noted under the program “Greater Care”, released on Sunday 22.

This is the call for residents of the City to assist older adults in their area during social, preventive and compulsory isolation. Whether with a phone call, shopping or taking out walk your pet.

To enroll in the program, those interested must enter their data in a form and indicate the type of volunteering they want to do. At the same time, they have to meet certain requirements such as not having been traveling in countries where the virus has circulated in the last month, not having had contact with someone who has traveled, not belonging to a risk group, among others.

The Buenosairean government explained that it will use geolocation tools to link volunteers with older adults who require assistance and thus prevent the movement of people away from their homes. In turn, each volunteer will receive a brief training to prevent contagion and security measures for everyone.
