Plastic artist Carlos Regazzoni died

At 77, the plastic artist died Carlos Regazzoni. He was an internationally recognized painter and sculptor for his works based on the train and railway stations.

Using leftover track and pieces of disused wagons, Regazzoni made his way into the art world with a unique style, and created medium and large scale works. In 1999 he settled in a railway warehouse in Retiro, where he set up his workshop.

During the various stages of his career, he completed insect-inspired creations -almost always ants-; He was called to make a sculpture in memory of the indigenous people of Bariloche and paid tribute to the first living beings in Pico Truncado. He also painted murals and paintings that are exhibited in museums such as MALBA.

Since the 90’s, Regazzoni made multiple trips to France, where with the help of assistants and businessmen interested in his work, he turned a 6000-square-meter workshop into a hangar for Paris in a space where today paintings, sculptures, rooms, kitchens, bathrooms are exhibited and offices.

With his established reputation as an “alternative” artist, he made a exposition financed by the French State in which he commemorated the 100 years of the country’s aeronautical history, which would become the zenith of his artistic career in that city.

His paintings were acquired by celebrities from Hollywood, like Madonna. Arab sheikhs and even Diego Maradona himself were also interested in them. He was declared an Illustrious Citizen of the City of Buenos Aires in 2015.
