More than 30 thousand Argentines left the country between March 13 and 19, when the coronavirus had already been declared a pandemic, according to official records released by the National Directorate of Migrations.

The data correspond to a period that begins two days after the declaration of the World Health Organization (WHO) and that extends to the day in which President Alberto Fernández decreed social isolation, preventive and mandatory.

According to Migrations, the decision to leave the country “was made by 30,520 travelers, when in all countries affected by viral circulation, They had already declared movement restriction and quarantine measures. “

For the official agency, “this puts in focus the individual responsibility of each one of the people who chose to get into a vehicle to cross the country’s borders. “

It is also recalled that “the majority of travelers who return to Argentina at this time, must enter absolute quarantine and be epidemiologically monitored by the national and provincial states, since they are potential transmitters of the virus.”

“Many of those who have already returned from countries with circulation have even violated the mandatory 14-day quarantine decreed by President Fernández,” sources of migration told Telam.

Among the countries that Argentines visited the most between March 13 and 19 there are Brazil (9,434 travelers), Chile (1,878), Spain (1,160), the United States (984) and Mexico (974), among others.
