Mexicana Volaris announces further reduction of its flight capacity

MEXICO CITY, March 31 (Reuters) – Mexican low-cost airline Volaris announced a temporary additional reduction in its flight capacity stemming from the country’s declaration of a health emergency due to the increase in cases of coronavirus.

Volaris, which last week reported a decrease of almost 50% of its operations due to the effects of the epidemic in the sector, said that for the month of April it will reduce its capacity by another 80% on what has already been announced.

So far, the Latin American country registers 1,215 confirmed cases and 29 deaths related to the outbreak, which spans more than 20 nations and threatens to trigger a deep global recession.
