Long weekend: why subway line A will not work from Saturday to Monday


Subway line A will not work between Saturday and next Sunday because tests will be carried out on the new signaling system that is being installed. This was announced by the Buenos Aires Subway company (SBASE).

The statement indicated that “the signal system is being modernized with the installation of a ATP (Automatic Train Protection)” from Plaza de Mayo to San Pedrito so that the service is “more reliable, more regular and improve the operation”.

“Signaling systems are formation control and protection systems, whose main function is to circulate safely by assigning routes and reporting the position of trains to avoid collisionsthat is to say, they are linked to the security and frequency of the service,” the company detailed in the statement.

The company explained that while the line is closed “specialized personnel will run the formations in order to check the good performance of all the components of the system and identify eventual failures -such as delays or errors in the assignment of itineraries, speed codes, etc.- to be corrected in view of the completion of this stage of the work, scheduled for the month of April” .

SBASE explained that the line it will work usually the holiday of Friday 24 until 22:00 and that it will resume its service from Monday 27 in the morning, from 05:30.

The personnel in charge of this work, which will last three days, will run the training sessions to verify that all the components of the system work correctly. They will also seek to detect possible failures, such as delays or errors in itineraries and speed codes, to correct them before this stage of the work ends in April.
