The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, this Thursday presents, together with members of his cabinet and the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, presented the initiative “Together for Health”.

“We are in the most critical stage and we have to continue preparing ourselves so that there is no saturation of hospitals, that the pandemic does not overwhelm us, so far we are doing well, of course it is very unfortunate that they have been hospitalized, that they are losing their lives as human beings, we also send our condolences to the relatives and we also send, our message of encouragement to those who are hospitalized to the sick, to all and here in a special way I send a message to a hug to Oscar Chávez, who was hospitalized yesterday, and so many others to all, in our fraternal hug to get ahead, may we never lose faith “, expressed the Mexican president.

With the aim of joining efforts and contributing to the public institutions responsible for health to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, on Monday the Together for Health Initiative was presented.

In a press conference, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard pointed out that the initiative seeks that civil society, banking institutions and companies contribute resources, protection equipment, services, lodging, transportation, water, and invite other institutions and companies.

In turn, the president of the Mexican Health Foundation, Héctor Valle, indicated that they started with many participants and more than 900 million pesos for personal protective equipment and hospitals, and that 340 thousand kits will be distributed to health personnel in 24 states of the Republic.

Germán Enrique Fajardo Dolci, director of the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), warned that one of the priorities of the “Together for Health” initiative is to take care of the health of health personnel fighting COVID-19 .

The academic appreciated the commitment of the private sector to help in the acquisition of medical supplies.

“To get ahead depends on the health of the members of the health sector,” said Fajardo.

He called on the population to continue contributing to safeguarding the health integrity of the entire population, observing the recommendations of the health sector.

The director of the Faculty of Medicine warned that the observance of social distancing measures will allow social and economic normality to be reached sooner.

“If we do not all unite around the disease and do not care for those who protect us, we will not be able to talk about the economy and other matters,” he emphasized.

The “Together for Health” initiative integrates universities, government entities and companies to collect donations to acquire medical supplies.

So far 900 million pesos have been collected and with it the protection kits for members of the health sector in 24 states of the country.
