Innovation how is the new wave that is here to stay?

There has not been a greater experience leveler in the history of humanity like the one generated during this coronavirus pandemic.

There are not many positive things that we can rescue from this global pandemic And, don’t get me wrong, this is by no means a desired scenario. Now … we are already going through this situation, right? So what can we salvage by getting out of this?

In recent months we have seen the massive collapse of industries and businesses, the disappearance of projects and work teams in the midst of total confusion, to the point that the new normality proposed is a normality in which we do not want to live.

At the same time, other things began to happen. We begin to communicate in different ways, we begin to answer the question “can this be done?” in new and original ways. We collaborate, share knowledge, complete projects and progress together. Even in this context we were able to exercise creativity, something unthinkable a few months ago.

The positive that this pandemic achieved was giving us all the same level of experience. Four months ago, some companies, who were brave enough or simply were lucky, had had the experience of working remotely, some others had little experience, but the vast majority viewed this dynamic as a enemy of productivity.

Even so, in recent months we have seen a general and pronounced increase in productivity (although we still need to be able to sustain it over time). One of the things we get out of this situation is that everyone, not just the corporations but everyone, have had the experience of working remotely, communicating, playing, exercising, cooking, teaching, learning. They basically had the experience of doing everything remotely!

There has not been a greater experience leveler in history like the one generated during this pandemic. Keep in mind that, just 4 months ago, your friends saw you as an alien because you had a “call” with your team. Now, we are all together in the same reality and that is no longer news.

Emiliano Horcada: “In this context we were able to exercise creativity, something unthinkable a few months ago.”

Changes in questions about the future

We are no longer asking the question “Can this be done?” We are already moving forward. And now we ask ourselves “How can we improve it?“And that’s the big question!

It is when people start asking those questions that true innovation occurs. When we are not blocked by the assumption that remains in the “this cannot be done”, but we get inspired and push forward to create wonderful things in an exploration of the limits of this new reality.

Thanks to this global experience, a new wave of innovation is coming, new products, services, solutions, laws, policies and new habits are emerging from this great collective experience. It is not a question of asking if “will this happen?”, It will and it is already happening!

So, in this context full of opportunities and new horizons, the correct question is not “Is a new wave of innovation coming?” The correct question is: “Will I be part of it?” and “How can I participate in the best way?”
