The Ministry of Health authorized the prescription and sale of medicines with the presentation of prescriptions in digital formats
The Ministry of Health, through Resolution 696/2020 published this Wednesday in the National Official Gazette, authorized the prescription and sale of medicines with the presentation of prescriptions in digital formats, during the period of mandatory social isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the province of Buenos Aires, based on the decisions made by Governor Axel Kicillof to face the pandemic and to facilitate the prescription of medications, the Instituto Obra Médico Asistencial (IOMA) announced that it will implement the electronic prescription to facilitate the prescription of medications starting next Monday, in an official statement.
The initiative will be launched through an agreement with PAMI, which will allow IOMA to use its design and system to carry out electronic prescriptions. The IOMA specified that it is the first time that it implements the electronic prescription, “a tool that will streamline the drug dispensing circuit and will make the medical act of prescribing more secure.”
And the same will be happening in all the provinces of the country.
How does it work
He Affiliate must contact his or her primary care physician by telephone or email, without having to go to the office, to request the prescription of the electronic prescription.
On the other hand, a form was implemented on the web pami.org.ar for eventual claims for the lack of attention.
Medications can be withdrawn at the pharmacy by any person authorized to circulate with the member’s ID and credential.
For the electronic prescription to be valid, it must meet some requirements, according to Resolution 696/2929 of the Ministry of Health:
– Have a photo of the prescription on the letterhead of the healthcare center or of the professional prescriber in handwritten form or with a computer print or electronic prescription from the financer that allows identifying the professional prescriber.
-Comply with the provisions set forth in Law No. 25,649 on the Promotion of the Use of Medicines by their Generic Name
-Be signed “in handwriting or with a digital signature, complying with the requirements of Law No. 25,506, if applicable, and be signed with the professional or financer’s information, allowing the prescriber to be uniquely identified.”
-Have a stamp with the professional’s name, surname and registration number, which, if it does not appear on the letterhead because it is from a healthcare center, must be legible. “This requirement will govern if it is signed digitally, even if it has letterhead as long as it does not appear as an epigraph in the digital recipe of the financier,” states the text of the resolution.
-Have a date after the entry into force of Decree No. 297/2020.
-Contain the complete data of the patient to whom it is prescribed (name, surname and document)
-Include the legend “COVID EMERGENCY RECIPE -19”.
