Google Meet adds tools to compete with Zoom

From now on, users participating in a video conference will be able to appear on the same screen, up to 16 participants simultaneously.

The coronavirus pandemic sparked competition between companies offering video calling services such as Skype, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet who want to capture the market, taking advantage of the insecurity problems that affect Zoom and the limitations of WhatsApp.

Previously, in traditional video calls, a user observed how the vision and image of the conversation focused from person to person. However, when Zoom appeared on the market it offered the mosaic interface where all the participants of a video call or video conference appear in a grid, showing up to 16 participants at once.

Google Meet has incorporated new tools and, from now on, users participating in a video conference will be able to appear on the same screen, up to 16 participants simultaneously.

Another feature offered by this new version of Google Meet is that the user does not need to open the application to share high-quality videos and audiosIt plays them directly in a Chrome tab.

This feature adds to the Noise Cancellation, an option in which Google removes background sounds, such as barking dogs, screaming children or cars using a smart filter.

Noise cancellation will be available in the coming weeks for G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers, initially for web users and then for mobile device users.

Google also offers help to improve lighting conditions in case the user is in a dark or poorly lit environment. As with noise cancellation, Meet uses artificial intelligence and it will activate the low-light mode automatically if it detects that the light conditions are not optimal, so it will improve your face in the video. This feature is available to mobile device users and will be available to web users.
