Aerolineas Argentinas will pay the salary for the month of June in installments, as reported to employees through an internal communication, according to the agency Telam.
“We inform you that, given the delicate economic situation that the company is going through in the framework of the stoppage of activities caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, on July 6, 50% of the assets corresponding to June 2020 will be paid, with a flat of 35,000 pesos in pocket, guaranteeing that nobody receives an amount less than said figure, ”indicates the statement that the company circulated among its workers.
He adds that “the current situation” does not allow them “to face the total payment of wages as we came doing in the months of March, April and May, already in full effect of operations due to the health crisis.”
In the text, Airlines stresses that “the company is holding talks with the national government in order to be able to complete the payment of the June assets as soon as this is possible.”
On the other hand, company sources indicated that, “despite suffering a 97% drop in income and having operations paralyzed for almost four months, the company paid wages in March, April and May in a timely manner. “
In this sense, they specified that, “in the case of June salaries, the company is in a position to pay 50% of the salary of all its workers, with a minimum floor of 35 thousand pesos in the case of the lowest wages ”.
“We are making an enormous effort to sustain the sources of work and keep our aircraft operating, which implies expenses in spare parts and different maintenance services,” they pointed out.
They noted that “a series of measures were implemented that translate into 350 million pesos of savings per month, ranging from the suspension of 4 thousand workers, the non-payment of per diem, among other items, and the 20% salary reduction for management positions ”.
Finally, the sources insisted that “the primary objective is not to continue on the same path as so many other airlines in the world.”
