Fire in an Almagro building: firefighters rescue trapped people


At least four fire crews and SAME work to control a Almagro fire this Friday at noon. With the help of a crane, rescue teams attempt to evacuate people who are in the building, located at the intersection of Maza and Moreno streets. They are trying to determine how the fire originated.

The director of SAME Alberto Crescenti counted in dialogue with TN: “The fire is on the second floor and is controlled by firefighters. The teams rescued a 71-year-old woman, four men, two young children and two older youths. All with smoke inhalation.”

“We are evaluating whether to remove more people from other departments who have inhaled smoke. We have eight ambulances in place and four others have already gone to hospitals with the transfers,” he added.

On site they work 12 units. “The action was very fast. There was fire and a lot of smoke. Firefighters and the City Police intervened immediately,” said Crescenti.
