Coronavirus: the seven-month pregnant woman stranded in Cancun returned to the country

A group of 300 Argentines who were stranded in Mexico were repatriated this Monday aboard two planes of that country’s Air Force. Muguelar and her husband flew to Cancun on March 6, a few days before the World Health Organization declare coronavirus a pandemic. The company they traveled to canceled their return trip more than five times and closed its offices in Mexico.

“When everything was unleashed we wanted to reschedule the flight, but it was impossible,” said the protagonist of the story, who since then was registered, along with her partner, on a priority list to return to the country due to their condition. They were scared because most airlines put restrictions on pregnant women older than seven months to avoid the possibility of the baby being born during the trip.

On Sunday they were called from the Consulate to advise them that the next day two planes of the Mexican Air Force would fly to Buenos Aires with Argentine passengers and that they were on the list.

The previous day, the Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard reported that President López Obrador had given the instruction to carry out a rescue mission for stranded citizens in Argentina, and at the same time take Argentines back to their country.

“Finally, we traveled with 150 other people, including the elderly, the sick, families with children and other pregnant women, although I was the one with the most months “, Muguelar related.
