Coronavirus: San Luis and Catamarca return to Phase 1 of the quarantine

Catamarca and San Luis returned to Phase 1 of the quarantine, after registering an increase in coronavirus cases in the last hours. With this measure they try to avoid the spread of the virus.

In Catamarca, the last province in the country to register cases of COVID-19, the new phase which began to take effect from this Saturday at 0:00, will run until July 6 inclusive. Although, Governor Raúl Jalil warned that it could be extended as provided by the Emergency Operational Committee (COE) depending on the analysis of the epidemiological situation carried out during these days.

The first case that was registered in the province was that of a transporter who was traveling from Buenos Aires and on his return he started with symptoms compatible with the disease, so he was transferred directly to the hospital where they did the swab, which was positive.

In this case, five other confirmed were added, who would be people who had close contact with the first infected man.

Following this outbreak, in Catamarca all commercial activities will remain closed, except the essential ones of the first DNU issued by the national government, on March 20.

Similar situation is the one that crosses the territory of Saint Louis, where this Saturday a new case of coronavirus was registered, and the Governor Alberto Rodríguez Saá announced the return to Phase 1 and decreed the mandatory use of the mask.

After learning that a positive and asymptomatic person from COVID-19 walked through San Luis, Villa Mercedes, La Toma, Merlo and Quines, towns in the south of the province, selling cheeses, the provincial government decided to take preventive measures so that keep spreading the virus.

The patient, who is admitted to the Madre Catalina Rodríguez Hospital in Villa de Merlo, raised the authorities’ alarm because it is the first confirmed in the province after 90 days (from April 5), and he is infected. number 12 since the start of the pandemic.

According to the implemented restrictions, citizens can only circulate for essential reasons, such as the purchase of food and medicines, and they must do so respecting the last number of the DNI.
