Coronavirus: on the first day of house-to-house testing, 39 suspected cases were detected in Barrio 31

After the death of a woman, the Buenos Aires Government detected 39 suspected cases of coronavirus on Tuesday in the Barrio 31, Retiro. It was during a health operation, carried out together with the National Executive, in which 496 residents in 158 homes were evaluated.

The administration of Rodríguez Larreta He reported that it was an active search for close contacts of confirmed cases and also for people with feverish symptoms, knocking door to door and talking to each neighbor, to find out if they had or knew people with symptoms compatible with COVID-19.

Cases that met the definition of suspect were immediately tested with the PCR test in mobile sanitary units.

After being swabbed, the infected potentials were referred to the Transitional Isolation Units (UTA) of the Fernández and Argerich hospitals, pending the results of the tests being processed in the laboratory of the Malbrán Institute.

“Positive cases will be referred for their care and attention and close contacts will be evaluated in order to intensify follow-up for early detection and subsequent evaluation,” they indicated.

The Undersecretary of Primary, Ambulatory and Community Care, Gabriel Battistella, maintained that “in these neighborhoods where it is so difficult to maintain the distance, you have to act with all the power of the State.” It should be clarified that 43,000 residents live in Barrio 31.

Until this Tuesday, the Buenos Aires government confirmed 249 cases of COVID-19 in the vulnerable neighborhoods of the City. Those most affected are: Barrio 31, with 151 cases; and Barrio Padre Ricciardelli (known as 1-11-14), with 71 others.

The distribution of cases in vulnerable neighborhoods is completed as follows: three in the Ramón Carrillo neighborhood; three in Barrio 21-24; two in Hidden City; two in Barrio 20; one in the Fatima neighborhood; one in Rodrigo Bueno; one in Piletones; another in Barrio Miter and thirteen residents who live in vulnerable neighborhoods but choose not to reveal their whereabouts.

City Government sources indicated to TN.com.ar that the same operation could be carried out in other neighborhoods, according to the contagion curve.
