Tomorrow, a group of women from the local technology industry will make Córdoba one of the 200 venues, in 50 countries around the world, where the Women in Data Science (WiDS 2020) will be held.
This event was held for the first time, in 2015, at Stanford University, in California, United States, to present women speakers at data science or data science, an item with little female participation.
Data science is an activity based on a set of technologies, in which mathematical algorithms process large volumes of data for analysis and to aid in decision-making.
The meeting will be held by MET Córdoba-Women in Technology and the Córdoba Regional Faculty of the National Technological University (UTN), at Maestro M. López on the Red Cross corner, Ciudad Universitaria. Between 8:30 and 15:30, he will give lectures on his tools and applications. Then, between 3.30 and 8 pm, he will provide workshops with different levels of complexity for different audiences.
“The exhibitors are women, but it is not an exclusive event for female audiences, it is open to everyone,” says Laura Minuet, data scientist and one of the members of MET Córdoba.
The objective is to strengthen the presence of women in this area, in which, according to the ICT Technology Monitor of the Córdoba Technology Cluster, their participation is limited: they represent 23 percent of the workers in the software local, 15 percent when it comes to technical roles and only three to four percent in managerial or corporate positions.
According to Soledad Salas, founder of MET Córdoba and director of Educational Innovation at Universidad Siglo 21, one and a half years after its creation, 300 technological women began to connect in the province through their networks.
