Celta ties 1-1 with Betis while Valladolid prevails over Alavés

Jul 4 (Reuters) – Celta de Vigo drew 1-1 with Real Betis at the Estadio Balaidos de la Liga on Saturday, after VAR canceled the visitors a penalty in the second half.

Celta opened the scoring with a goal from Nolito in the 22nd minute, which scored a foul thanks to the poor placement of the barrier, surprising goalkeeper Joel Robles as he slipped it through the short post.

Betis received a penalty in the second half when Rafinha collided with Andrés Guardado in the area, but the referee annulled the decision after checking the monitor.

However, the visitors prevailed in the second half and in the 79th minute the central defender Zouhair Feddal equalized when he finished off a ball that Channels hung at the far post.

Meanwhile, Real Valladolid defeated Deportivo Alavés 1-0. Defender Joaquín Fernández scored his second goal of the season in the 88th minute to give his team three points at the José Zorrilla stadium.

The results leave Celta, Eibar and Alavés with 35 points each. However, the blue albia occupy 15th place, followed with little difference by Eibar and Celta.

Valladolid rose to 13th place with 39 points, while Betis dropped to 14th, one point away.
