Automotive market: in used cars, the upturn in June was 10.6 percent

The used vehicle market also showed growth in June, according to statistics from the Córdoba Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCAC).

Preliminary data from the Property Registries show that 16,342 operations were made in the province, 10.6 percent above the 14,772 transfers in June last year.

This growth is less than the 15.5 percent increase shown by the zero kilometer market, according to figures from the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (Acara).

  • Cars: with the most active demand, doubts now go through supply

Transfers in June exceed 9,278 in May, which had been half of the same month in 2019, and just 2,300 in April, when dealerships were closed due to mandatory isolation measures.

Anyway, there are several factors that invite caution in the analysis of these figures.

As a first step, the president of the CCAC mentioned that the opening of the salons allowed to resume the pace of activity and formalize sales that had not been possible in the previous months.

“In May, 12 days the sector had no activity, 13 did so under the delivery modality and there were only six with attention in classrooms. In June, operations lagged in May were finalized, as only the last week the stores were opened, facilitating progress in operations started online, ”he explained.

Likewise, he mentioned that the comparative base is low: June 2019 was the month with the lowest volume of operations in that year.

Outlook

In this way, the first half of the year closed with 71,460 used units sold in Córdoba, 24 percent below the same period in 2019, when there were 94,441 vehicles.

In this context, in which there is a shortage of some 0 km units and an interesting price gap between used and new cars, demand remains, generating good purchase opportunities.

“The automotive sector, fundamentally the 0 km, requires the normalization of production and import regularization of both auto parts and vehicles, accompanied by an incentive plan to recover the lost market in order to give more dynamism to the sector, since the used factory is sales of 0 km, “Ruiz warned.

At the national level, Córdoba is the second market for used cars, with a 12.7 percent share.
