The cargo embarked on a container with 24 tons of fresh lemons produced in the province of Tucumán, which sailed aboard the Maersk Labrea ship bound for the port of Hong Kong.
This first shipment was carried out after more than 20 years of negotiations between both countries, and thanks to the fulfillment of all the phytosanitary requirements established bilaterally.
For this type of operations, APM Terminals offers the exclusive freezing tunnel that allows consolidation and export of merchandise -mainly fruits and meats to the United States and China.
Thus, in May, the company carried out the first operation of this service with a load of lemons that went to the North American market. The system maintains the ideal temperature of each input, since it has enough flexibility to reach from ambient temperatures down to – 35 ° C.
