Argentina exported dulce de leche to Vietnam for the first time

Argentina began its exports of dulce de leche to Vietnam, after the first container arrived at the main ports of the South Asian country, the Foreign Ministry reported today.

The dulce de leche is produced by the Santa Fe company San Ignacio, and is exported and marketed by the Limited Liability Company ¨Argentina Food Export¨ and its Del Plata store, according to a statement.

As part of the arrival of the first shipment, an event was held in Vietnam that was attended by the Argentine ambassador to that country, Pablo Beltramino; the director of San Ignacio, Alejandro Reca; members of the Argentine community and the Latin American, Japanese and Korean community.

Reca highlighted the “cooperation” from the “zero moment” provided by the embassy.

“Our initial request for basic information was followed by the supply of data and specific contacts with importers. For this reason, this shipment is a clear case not only of great patience on the part of the parties involved, but also of success within the framework of public-private cooperation”, highlighted the director of the dairy company, after which he stressed that this first shipment is “only the beginning”.

“With the resilience developed, we will seek expansion in volumes and the incorporation of our entire family of dulce de leches and also blue cheese,” he specified with a view to the future of his company’s shipments to Vietnam.

The export and commercialization will be carried out by Del Plata, a firm that is especially sensitive to the shipment abroad of Argentine products oriented to the retail sector such as meats, yerba mate and wines.

Argentine dulce de leche arrives in Vietnam

The first shipment had six pallets of dulce de leche, with a total amount of approximately 7,500 450-gram jars, the Foreign Ministry said.

Vietnamese consumers will be able to buy dulce de leche at the Shopee chain, at the Saint Honore Ho Chi Minh store and in Hanoi, and at the Del Plata Argentina Market store.

In 2022, bilateral trade between Argentina and Vietnam reached its historical maximum for a total of US$4,462 million as a result of a record of Argentine exports of US$3,223 million and imports of US$1,240.

These figures allowed the country to leave a surplus balance of US$ 1,982 million.
