Abused and hungry: the emotional photos of the rescue of 18 poodles in Almagro


An anonymous complaint triggered an unparalleled rescue in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Almagro: 18 poodles, 12 males and six females, were placed in custody after finding themselves overcrowded, mistreated and neglected by their owner.

The procedure, in charge of the Fiscal Unit Specialized in Environmental Matters (UFEMA), detected that the poodles lived in very poor conditionsamong nauseating odors, without receiving a correct diet or the corresponding medical treatments.

The fiscal unit, headed by Dr. Carlos Rolero Santurianled the raid on the property located at 4400 Bartolomé Miter Street. The investigation began based on a complaint filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the City of Buenos Aires about possible animal abuse and the lack of care regarding the animals. animals.

UFEMA, through the Misdemeanors and Offenses Division of the City Police, collected a series of necessary and compelling tests that allowed to prove the situation.

Prosecutor Rolero Santurian requested the search warrant, granted by Dr. Joseph Beguelin -temporarily in charge of the Misdemeanor Criminal Court and Misdemeanors No. 3-, with the purpose of making cease the risk situation of poodles and dismantle the serious situation caused by their overcrowding.

Besides, the owner of the dogs was accused of acts of cruelty (Article 3 of Law 14,346) and omission of precautions in the care of domestic animals (art 140 and 142 of the Offense Code).

The procedure was coordinated and carried out by the Ministry’s Judicial Investigation Corps (CIJ), together with personnel from the Misconduct and Misdemeanors Division of the City Police, the General Directorate of Environmental Control (DGCONTA), and veterinarians from the Environmental Protection Agency (APRA).
