A very worrying situation is currently being experienced in Saldán, a town located a few kilometers from the provincial capital. A doctor who cares in a nursing home tested positive for coronavirus after he suffered from pneumonia.
The professional had not presented symptoms, so he was treating older patients until last Thursday morning. Immediately more than 100 swabs were ordered and in the last hours it was known that 27 people tested positive, among them 21 older adults who live in the nursing home.
The nursing home has the presence of 75 older adults, who they are not the only ones who would have had contact with the professional which is also the benchmark for PAMI in the region.
The information was confirmed by the Municipality of Saldán itself: “Health professional, non-resident of our city who carries out his work in the Santa Lucía nursing home and in a private health center in Saldán tested positive as a carrier of COVID 19 (coronavirus) ”, published the municipality.
“Faced with this, the municipal mayor immediately called an emergency meeting of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) c“In order to immediately activate the respective protocols established by the Ministry of Health,” added the statement.
Upon learning of the cataract of positive cases, this afternoon, the provincial Ministry of Health decided declare the epidemiological alert throughout the Sierras Chicas region, which includes, in addition to Saldán, other neighboring towns such as Mendiolaza, Villa Allende and La Calera.
