The Avon Foundation Award supports and makes visible the solidarity work of women who with determination and effort work to reduce the gender inequality gaps and improve the quality of life of their communities. For the first time in 13 years, the five winners learned of their achievement through video calls.
With a strong representation of the Argentine north, the names of the five 2020 winners are revealed, whose projects were selected by an illustrious jury, among more than 150 initiatives from all over the country. Each project will receive an economic allocation of 200 thousand pesos and training for the teams, from the Avon Foundation and the Macro Foundation, in a strategic alliance.
Lorena Soza (24 years old), from Salta, member of the Manos Association; Yésica Beatriz del Milagro Gutierrez (32 years old), from San Salvador de Jujuy, from the Organization “Women knocking down barriers” (Mudeba) and Jimena Llorente (36 years old), El Potrillo (Formosa), from the Niwok Foundation.
In addition to Carmen Laffont (57 years old), from Maipú (Mendoza), from the “Marilin Penna de Ferro” Basic Education Centers for Youth and Adults and Ana Rodríguez (45 years old), from Santa Catalina (Jujuy), from the Institute of Science and Regional Technology.
The Avon Foundation Award is sponsored by the United Nations Argentina, so the proposed projects are framed in the Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the UN, in its 2030 Agenda. And as a novelty, this year a strategic alliance was formalized with Fundación Banco Macro, a fact that allows incorporating financial education and tools for empowerment, autonomy and financial and labor inclusion of women.
