Brazil surpasses 94,000 deaths from coronavirus, registers 25,800 new cases in the last 24 hours

BRASILIA, Aug 2 (Reuters) – Brazil recorded 25,800 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 541 deaths from the infectious disease in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Sunday.

The South American nation has reported more than 2.73 million cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, while the number of deaths has increased to 94,104, according to the government.

Brazil is the second country with the highest number of cases and deaths from coronavirus in the world, surpassed only by the United States.
