As a preventive measure and in the face of the impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Mexico City determined to apply coronavirus tests every 15 days in companies in the capital.
José Merino, head of the Digital Agency for Public Innovation, explained that these tests will be carried out in companies with more than 100 employeeswhich he estimates are around 5,000 at CDMX.
“We will make a biweekly application of tests equivalent to 3% of the staff,” explained Merino.
During the virtual conference headed by the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, the official reported that the application will be in a group or as it is called in the laboratories, in “pooling”That is, in a nucleus of up to 15 people who live in the same space.
He revealed that through this process 15 samples could be put into one and if it is negative, it is ensured that these 15 people are free of contagion, otherwise, tests will have to be done again, but individually.
The laboratories will be obliged to give the list of companies that have sent tests and they can only be applied when they are approved by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE), in order to break a possible chain of infections.
In the event that it is discovered that a person has been infected, they must be isolated and will have to contact Locatel (56 58 11 11), to track cases in CDMX.
Likewise, he emphasized that with this initiative they support the companies to give them the adequate follow-up and stop the wave of infected people.
In early June, the CDMX government revealed that companies with 30 workers had to perform the number of weekly tests equivalent to 5% of the workforce.
In this sense, the head of government announced that a change in the testing scheme was applied, since the companies were not in economic conditions to face the initiative.
“That is why we made a greater analysis and now it is for more than 100 workers and every 15 days, in addition to giving the possibility that they are group tests. At the same time, we seek not to have such an onerous burden on private companies, “said Sheinbaum.
Meanwhile, the capital’s president explained what is the probability that the sanitary traffic light currently positioned in orange will turn red, the maximum alert for infections.
“If we get to a situation of 5,127 hospitalized in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, We would have to go to a red light, but this is an evaluation that we would have to do every week, “he warned.
The hospital occupation until this Friday, July 31 is 4,715. This means that there is a difference of 412 hospitalized to reach the figure that Claudia Sheinbaum announced (5,127), and apply the change in traffic light color, which is measured by the indicators of: hospital occupation, percentage of cases of COVID-19, trend of hospitalized cases and trend of coronavirus syndrome.
The capital’s president also detailed that hospital capacity has been maintained from the beginning of June to mid-July, since there was a variation of 2% to 5% in some weeks and during the last 15 days the number of people hospitalized in the hospital has been constant. CDMX.
