Coronavirus.- Guatemala registers more than a thousand deaths from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic


The Government of Guatemala has raised the provisional balance of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic above one thousand, after registering in the previous 24 hours 23 more deaths.

The Guatemalan Ministry of Health has also reported Tuesday of 815 more cases, with which there are already more than 24,000 people who have tested positive in the Central American country. Specifically, the authorities have confirmed to date 24,787 cases of the new coronavirus.

The department of Guatemala, where the capital is located, is the most affected by the pandemic and concentrates more than 17,000 cases, well above the two that follow it on the list, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez, which barely exceed one thousand infections. .

The deputy Armando Castillo, member of the Board of Directors of Congress, has confirmed that at least three legislators have contracted the disease, although he has not gone into details. “I do not say the names because it is obviously a very personal and very sensitive issue,” he explained, according to the newspaper ‘Prensa Libre’.
