BOGOTÁ (AP) – Venezuelan goalkeeper Wuilker Faríñez will leave the ranks of Millionaires and join a loan to Lens de Francia, the club from the Colombian capital reported Wednesday.
Lens got promoted to the first division after the French soccer authorities decided to end the campaign interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. The loan agreement will last until June 2022, when the goalkeeper’s contract with the Bogota team also expires.
“Millionaires reports that goalkeeper Wuilker Faríñez has been transferred to European football. His new team is that of Ligue 1 in France, to which he arrives on loan with a purchase option, “said the club on social media.” Best wishes and many successes in this new stage. ”
Millionaires and Lens are controlled by the Amber Capital investment fund.
“It is a great change in my career and in my life, it is also a great opportunity and I will give everything to be successful because this institution deserves it … the idea is to stay in the first division,” the goalkeeper told local media.
Faríñez, 22, was key with his saves in the performance of Venezuela, which won the runner-up in the South Korea U20 World Cup in 2017.
He acted with Millionaires in 91 games. He arrived in Colombia from Caracas in January 2018 and contributed to the victory of Millionaires in the final of the 2018 Super League.
He will travel in mid-July on the so-called “sports flight” that will take cyclists to Europe, including Tour de France champion Egan Bernal and other Colombian sports figures who need to make the transatlantic flight.
