UK car market is experiencing its worst month since 1946 in April

The British car market experienced its worst month since 1946 in April, just after World War II, with a 97% year-on-year collapse of new registrations, the SMMT industry association said on Tuesday.

Barely 4,000 new cars were sold, and dealerships closed as a result of confinement measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Those sales essentially concern orders for company fleets, SMMT said.
