Coronavirus: house-to-house testing began in Barrio 31 de Retiro

Under the “Operational detect”, which jointly carries out the AMBA table, made up of the Nation, the Province of Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, they started testing to close contacts of positive cases in the Neighborhood 31.

In this place 133 infected were confirmed and there has already been one death from COVID-19. There are a total of 249 infected and 6 dead in the most vulnerable areas of the City, and 22 recovered.

As explained by the Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós, those who have had close contact with positive cases will be swabbed. This plan tries to detect the asymptomatic to stop the spread of the virus in the most vulnerable regions.

“We are going to test at people who have suspicious criteria. We are working in collaboration with Malbrán and we hope to have the results by mid-afternoon“, affirmed the Buenosairean health authority in dialogue with TN.

The official explained that they are going to swamp close contacts that make symptoms and that those who do not present any manifestation related to the disease different options are offered so that they can be isolated and they are followed up “twice a day”.

In addition, for the detection of possible cases, health personnel you are going house to house asking if they have symptoms.

“We will be developing in each neighborhood the policies that we have to develop to prevent the spread,” said Quirós, and stated that most cases that occurred in vulnerable neighborhoods they are light, but there are some of a certain severity.

As explained on Tuesday by the Secretary of Access to Health Carla Vizzotti in the daily morning report, the tests they are being carried out at strategic points in which each jurisdiction considers it urgent to control the spread of the virus. In the case of these neighborhoods, the cramped conditions in which its inhabitants live make the virus spreads much faster than in other spaces.

These are not the rapid tests that are being carried out at the bedside stations, as happened in Constitución, Retiro and Once, to detect recovered patients who have had the virus and have not presented symptoms; but are tests that get the result in the day.

Health authorities they arranged that they be carried out house by house, in the surroundings of those neighbors who tested positive. First febrile patients wanted or that they comply with any symptoms that can locate them as a suspicious case and, if so, the test is performed.

Based on the results, a contingency plan will be proposed, for the isolation of positive cases but also for close and family contacts.

The neighbors denounce that still water supply was not normalized, despite the fact that from the Government they assure that the pressure problem reported by the Aysa company has already been solved. In addition, they assured that there are only 60 homes that continue to have problems.

Ana, a neighbor of the neighborhood who has three daughters, one of 10, another of 5 and a three-month-old baby, says that she has been without water for 10 days. “I woke up at three in the morning but nothing came out,” explains this neighbor who, like other inhabitants, set the alarm early because it is the time when there is more pressure.

“My daughters play on the floor and I cannot clean them,” claimed this inhabitant of the neighborhood who was able to carry water thanks to a motorcycle but it came out “very cloudy” and it did not help her in the kitchen.

Between the bordering houses help each other and share water, in the corridors there are some taps that already have supplies but many neighbors have to climb stairs and they find it difficult to load the liters they need for a day.

“We couldn’t buy alcohol because it costs a lot”, said another woman and explained that this is why they try to wash their hands more frequently but that the lack of pressure makes the task more difficult.
