The exit from the quarantine will not be quick. After beginning “phase 3” of social isolation, the Government announced that two other stages are planned until the restrictions are lifted.

President Alberto Fernández said that “we open ourselves to a new challenge” and asked the population that “we all understand that we are in a new stage.”

“We have two more stages planned until the end of the time when everything is released,” said the president from Olivos and requested that, “in all activities that begin,” all necessary precautions be taken to minimize the possibility of contagion ” .

Fernández warned that it is still “far from saying that this is finished” although he stressed that “we have come a long way” but this “does not mean that the issue is resolved,” in a presentation from the Olivos residence.

The President assured that his “greatest concern is that the day after the pandemic, the economy will resume its activity as soon as possible.”

The new measures

The head of state affirmed, when announcing in the Olivos residence the extension of social, preventive and compulsory isolation until May 10, that “there is a risk in large urban centers such as Rosario, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Resistencia and Ushuaia” , and said that “large conglomerates are a unique topic because much of the epidemic is concentrated.

Fernández maintained that in the cities of “more than 500 thousand inhabitants, the restrictions will continue as until today”, in the third stage of the quarantine that begins on Monday, and that the towns with the least amount of population “may begin to be excepted” , but must meet five requirements for it.

“We went from strict isolation to a second moment with managed isolation and now this third stage begins,” in which “we leave it up to the provincial authorities to manage what activities can be opened,” Fernández said in a message from Olivos, in the one who announced that “we are going to allow up to half of the population to mobilize.”

The President pointed out that the national government will “strictly monitor the pandemic” in the districts where exceptions will be opened and warned that “if the numbers spill over or the requirements are not met, we will be able to reverse the provincial decision.”

In addition, he announced that “we will continue without classes, without public administration and without recreational activities or shows.”

He advanced that the national government “is going to authorize that any person can go out a radius of 500 meters outside their home for the purpose of entertainment.”

“It is an hour daily and within a radius of 500 meters. Children can go out accompanied by their parents, and teenagers alone,” said the president in a message from Olivos, in which he stressed the need to maintain the established protocol to avoid infections.
