Trump suggests treating coronavirus with a disinfectant injection or sunlight

True to his controversial style, the US president surprised with a new (and unusual) suggestion to combat COVID-19

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, suggested the possibility of treating the coronavirus with “an injection of disinfectant” or applying “sunlight” on the infected to defeat covid-19.

“I see the disinfectant knocks it out in a minute. Is there any way we can do something like an injection inside or almost a cleanse? As you can see, it reaches the lungs and reaches a tremendous number in the lungs, so it would be interesting to see that, “said the US president, addressing the director of the Division of Technology and Science of the Department of Homeland Security, Bill Bryan.

Trump’s remarks came at a press conference in which Bryan had presented the results of a government investigation that the coronavirus could weaken more quickly when exposed to sunlight and heat.

As a result of that statement, Trump asked him if you can “put sunlight inside the body” to defeat the coronavirus. “Therefore, suppose we expose the body to a tremendous amount of light, either ultraviolet or only very powerful light,” said the president.

The reaction of the medical community was not long in coming. Following Trump’s statements, scientific and health experts criticized his claims for considering that they are an irresponsible and “inadequate” message in health terms.

“This notion of injecting or ingesting any type of cleansing product into the body is irresponsible and dangerous,” pulmonologist Vin Gupta said, speaking to NBC News. In addition, he ruled that it is a “common method for people who want to kill themselves.”
