These are the municipalities that have done the best and worst “staying at home”


President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced the states and municipalities that are not complying with the recommendation to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Among the states that do not respect these measures, their native land Macuspana, in Tabasco, and Palenque, in Chiapas, stands out., where the federal president has a ranch.

During his press conference, The president reported that the majority of Mexicans are following the recommendations to avoid contagion and spread of the new coronavirus that until the night of this Tuesday had generated the death of 857 people and 9,501 infections in Mexico.

According to the information presented, 97% of the municipalities are complying with the “Stay at home” program, and 51% improved the adoption of measures days before the phase 3 of the coronavirus was declared.

The states with the highest compliance are Quintana Roo with 77%, Baja California with 77%, Baja California Sur with 75%, Mexico City with 75% and Sonora with 74%.

While the states that least complied were Hidalgo with 67%, Colima with 67%, Durango 69%, Oaxaca with 69% and Querétaro with 69%.

For his part The municipalities that registered the most protection for their population were: Benito Juárez, Mexico City +75; Coyoacán, Mexico City + 66%, Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City + 63%; Mexicali, Baja California + 58%; and San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León + 52%.

And those who least respected the contingency were: Río Bravo, Tamaulipas -2%; Pénjamo, Guanajuato + 6%; Palenque, Chiapas + 11%; San Felipe del Progreso, Mexico + 14%; Macuspana, Tabasco + 14%

The Ministry of Health (SSa) confirmed 857 deaths and 9,501 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Mexico during the evening press conference held at the National Palace.

In one week, that is, last Wednesday, 5,014 infected were counted, which increased this figure to 4,500 new cases in this period.

It was also underlined that in the last 14 days there are 3,185 casesThis means that the latter are the ones that they have the capacity to continue contagion in the republic.

The states with the highest number of infections are Mexico City with 2,857, the State of Mexico with 1,013, Baja California with 915, Sinaloa 510, Tabasco with 467, Quintana Roo 393 and Puebla with 382.

While the states with the most deaths are Mexico City with 224, Baja California with 100, the State of Mexico with 71, Tabasco with 55, Puebla with 53 and Sinaloa with 52.

During the presentation of the technical report on the progress of COVID-19 in the country, José Luis Alomy, general director of epidemiology, explained that the Americas region leads the percentage of new cases of this disease with 45.6 percent. This parameter is measured with the cases registered during the last 14 days, in this way, the new continent displaced Europe in this item that has 44.8 percent.

At the national level, the expert agreed with what the SSa and the World Health Organization (WHO) have reiterated since the beginning of the pandemic: that the most populated cities will be the most affected by SARS-CoV-2, since the three most affected entities are the Mexico City, State of Mexico and Baja California. He also pointed out the three least affected that are Zacatecas, Durango and Colima.

On the other hand, during the morning presidency conference on Tuesday, Hugo López-Gatell, undersecretary for health promotion and prevention, officially announced the entry to Phase 3 of the epidemic in the country, where a substantial increase in cases of COVID-19 is forecast until mid-May, where the epidemic curve is expected to begin to decline.

“Today we want to start Phase 3 of the COVID epidemic, remembering that we are in a phase of rapid rise where a large number of infections accumulate,” explained the epidemiologist without reiterating that the arrival of this day was inevitable.
