According to a survey, the image of Fernández and his management grew, as well as that of the other leaders with government responsibility in the metropolitan area
A survey shows that the coronavirus crisis translated into a rise in the citizen’s opinion of President Alberto Fernández, with a 74.9% positive image versus 3.9% negative, but also a very good performance by the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, and the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.
The assessment of the Government of President Fernández in the city of Buenos Aries and the suburbs in relation to the treatment of the coronavirus problem is 89.1% good, with 52.2% excellent within that approval, and only 3% consider it bad.
In addition to its management in the face of the coronavirus problem and including quarantine, in general, that is, considering all the measures that it has been taking since its inauguration: does it approve or disapprove the management of the Fernández Government ?, asked the consultant from Raúl Aragón.
The answer is that 67.2 approves the Government and only 9.2 disapproves, according to the survey of 1,200 cases on the Internet.
Regardless of the severity of the country and the world from the health and economic problem triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, the following is perceived at the national political level, the consultant said:
The government of President Fernández, despite the aforementioned crises, is in a particular position of solidity when considering public opinion.
Citizens acknowledge the President for having taken on time and firmly maintained the quarantine measures that, until now, would have allowed the situation to be maintained in a relatively controlled way, and with an appreciable relative advantage over what happened in other countries, where they were delayed. the decisions.
The general handling carried out by the Government around the coronavirus as well as the decisions to decree the forty and then extend it until April 26, with a 79.7% agreement, are highly approved.
Also the other leaders with decision-making responsibilities regarding critical issues in the country, such as the head of the Buenos Aires Government Rodríguez Larreta, the Buenosairean governor Kicillof and the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, have seen increased or maintain good evaluations in their public public images.
Rodríguez Larreta has 52.4 positive images and 20% negative; Kicillof shows 33.7% of good performance and 35.5% of disapproval, and Massa is viewed favorably by 35.4% of citizens and negatively by 25.4%.
In contrast, both Vice President Cristina Kirchner and former President Mauricio Macri have decreased in their citizen valuation indices.
Kirchner has 31.8% positive image and 53.8% negative, and Macri is worse, with 29.2% approval and 56.4% negative vision.
Although the consultant does not enter into the analysis, she says that when inquiring about the low profile that the current vice president would be adopting with regard to the coronavirus issue, the opinions are dissimilar and include so many positive reasons – she lowered her profile for “prudence” – , as negatives: “indifference towards the subject”.
A curious fact that the survey shows, the consultant pointed out is given by the result of a hypothetical presidential election between President Fernández, Cristina Kirchner and Mauricio Macri.
In this case, the current president would prevail due to a large figure (56.3%), relegating Macri (17.4%) and Kirchner herself, who would be located in a remote third place (12.5%).
The explanation of the previous result is reasonable when crossing those results against the previous vote of October 2020, said Raúl Aragón:
On the one hand, 70.7% of those who voted for Fernández in October would repeat that vote again, against just 26.8% who would favor Kirchner.
On the other hand, 31.3% of those who voted for Macri and 50% of those who voted for other candidates, blank, did not vote or do not remember him, would now favor Fernández.
This would seem to indicate, according to the consultant, that the broad public acceptance of the Fernández government’s treatment of the coronavirus crisis has resulted in a fundamental subversion of the Argentine electoral political capital: if before the votes were from Cristina, now they seem to become a genuine capital of the President.
“Such a conclusion should be considered with the precautionary measures of the situation. Although the end date of the coronavirus crisis is uncertain, one day it will culminate and then it is probable that the structural and endemic problems of the country will return to the center of the scene to a government that will have to face extraordinary difficulties, “said Raúl Aragón.
Finally, the survey also investigates the citizen assessment of a series of political events that occurred during the last 10 days to highlight the maturity of society to discriminate with equanimity both the clear successes and the unappealable errors of the Government, says the consultant.
Among them, it stands out that 47.1% of the respondents rejected cyber-patrols to control the pandemic, despite the clarification of the Minister of Security, Sabina Frederic that “it is not espionage because it is only accessible to the public.”
Also that 81.5% of citizens are on the side of the President in their fight with the Techint group and agrees with the statement that the employers who fire personnel “are miserable.
Although most consider the episode of food price premiums bought by the state unfortunate, Development Minister Daniel Arroyo retains almost 40% of good image compared to 13% negative.
