Wall Street opens higher for hope of lower coronavirus infections

Apr 6 (Reuters) – US stocks rose Monday at the opening of the session, after President Donald Trump was hopeful that the crisis from the coronavirus pandemic is slowing down in some of the most affected states in the country.

* The Dow Jones industrial average rose 641.10 points, or 3.05%, to 21,693.63 units; while the S&P 500 index gained 89.63 points, or 3.60%, at 2,578.28 units; and the Nasdaq composite index added 287.09 points, or 3.89%, to 7,660.17 units.
