The company was born from the opportunity that Gannio himself detected while living in the United States: “There was a very big disruption there with the mobility of people market. From there I began to study it and modeled it into three well-defined groups. One is that of ride sharing, which are the applications that we all know where there are non-professional drivers and private cars that transport people in their free time, then there is another professional model with professional drivers.This includes remises, buses, subways, trains , among other options and has great growth worldwide.
“Then there is a third model of self-driving where one rents a vehicle, which can be a bicycle, a skateboard or a car, but the driver is not a professional, but rather one who moves from one place to another,” he reveals. .
In this line, he adds: “Group 2 and group 3 handle 75% of the mobility of people worldwide and is in a very great process of digital transformation. From that vision we decided to create this brand platform white to be able to provide services to companies that operate within these models. Magiis allow you several things: First, to deliver the best end-to-end travel experience to the passenger, second, to focus only on providing added value and being able to be very competitive in this new digital economy. Third, provide travel security through the complete traceability of the end customer and from the driver or the car that is driving. And Fourth, it provides a sustainable project “.
Magiis started in the United States from a business point of view, it was developed entirely in Argentina where the pilot was also carried out with three companies.
“We are leaving for Argentina, then we are going to continue throughout the Southern Cone; Chile and Uruguay and, depending on the conditions of the Latin American countries, we will continue to the north or launch directly into the United States”, projects Gannio.
The financing started as its own, until the investment rounds arrived. “We started to develop the platform with our own capital of $ 2 million and a year we opened capital, we made a round of seed investment in the United States, we registered it with the SEC (Security Exchange Commission) and we closed the round in December last year That capitalized the company, giving it a value of 10 million dollars only in its pilot phase “, account.
“In Argentina, there are around 50 thousand units legally registered. From our survey, there are almost 35% more units that are not registered and that are part of the ecosystem. Those 50 thousand units plus those not registered generate an approximate economy of 664 million dollars a year only here. We intend to capture 8% of market share within this business in three years. If we see Latin America, the transport business taking into account the A and B models that I mentioned, are more or less 17 billion dollars, therefore the projections are much higher for Latin America and not to mention the United States where the business is 25 billion dollars a year “, exposes the CEO.
Regarding the rest of the ride sharing applications, from Magiis they are critical.
“These platforms are disintermediating and impoverishing part of the ecosystem; drivers, car owners, restaurant owners when they ask for food. There is a very large concentration and oligopoly. How does it work?
The company that wishes to have these services must register on the platform and wait one day; During that period, Magiis will verify if said firm is really dedicated to the transport of people. Once that stage is over, the platform is enabled to parameterize it in its entirety and start operating.
“This technology is mounted on a commercial cloud, one of the most recognized that exists. We develop the entire back end in Java and the entire front end in a technology called Angular in order to have development speed. Magiis is updated every 15 days, we are adding modules and news every two weeks, that is why we need to have very dynamic development tools that allow frequent updates.
